In a surprise announcement to many, the UAE armed forces revealed that it intends to double its Airbus A330MRTT tanker fleet from three to six, as well as order two additional Saab GlobalEye AEW aircraft -bringing its total to five. The UAE ordered two GlobalEyes at the 2015 Dubai Air Show, followed by a third order in 2017. However, Saab stressed that the latest UAE order, worth $1.018bn, is subject to negotiation.
